The 2nd Battalion - 3rd Field Artillery Regiment of the 1st Armored Division Artillery - stationed in Germany during the spring of 1999 - relied heavily on the M998 for its operations. This period marked a significant phase of peacekeeping and readiness in Europe following the end of the Cold War - with the U.S. military maintaining a robust presence in Germany to ensure stability and preparedness. The M998 Humvee was integral to the daily operations of the 2nd Battalion - 3rd Field Artillery Regiment.
